Welcome to the Hillsborough  County Property Appraiser’s on-line homestead exemption application. We are providing this application in an attempt to make filing for homestead exemption and other personal exemptions a little more convenient for you, the property owner.

If your name is not listed as the owner of record, we offer a ‘New Owner’ section to complete. This allows no lapse in time and you are able to apply for homestead exemption immediately upon purchase and moving in to the new home.

In order to process your application on-line, our office must reflect the property ownership in your name. If you have recently closed on your property, please allow our office 60 days from your closing to process the deed and ownership change. If the March 1st deadline is approaching, please come into our office to file in person. Our office location is at 15th Floor County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL, 33602-4932.

The following exemptions may also be filed on-line along with the new homestead exemption application:

  • Other personal exemptions such as widows, widowers, blind, disability, service connected disability
  • Transfer of Assessment Difference (Portability)
  • You may also apply for Senior and Long-Term Senior Citizen Exemption. For more information on these and other exemptions, as well as portability, please visit: Homestead-Other-Exemptions

The following applications cannot be filed online:

  • Adding additional exemptions to an existing homestead exemption
  • If the property is owned in a trust
  • When applying for homestead exemption on commercial, multi-family or mobile home properties.

  • You will be able to print a copy of your application as your receipt. This is your confirmation that you have applied for a property tax exemption. In order to print your receipt, you must have Adobe Reader.
  • If additional information is required to complete your application, a form will also print at the end of the application process listing any additional items needed. You MUST submit the required information to complete the application.
  • At the end of your application, if you provide us your email address, a courtesy email will be sent as confirmation you completed and submitted the application.
  • If you do not wish to use the online application you may complete the  printable application, then fax (813-276-8946), mail or bring it to any of our 5 offices  on or before March 1
